For further information please visit .What You’ll DoWe are seeking a dedicated Urban Rivers Project Officer to play a key role in restoring and maintaining the health of urban waterways. In this hands-on role, you’ll conduct on-ground monitoring to ensure the integrity of constructed elements, inspect and repair fencing, and tackle invasive weed species to support local ecosystems. You’ll assess planting sites, implement effective planting strategies, and play a vital role in feral animal control activities. You’ll also develop and implement an environmental monitoring plan, track key project indicators, and support the team in meeting critical milestones. Liaising daily with project contractors under the guidance of the Team Leader Natural Areas, you’ll ensure project progress aligns with quality and timeline expectations while maintaining detailed records and reports.What You’ll BringThe successful applicant will have a tertiary qualification in environmental or natural resource management (or a related field) and at least two years of experience. You’ll have expertise in flora and fauna management, advanced plant identification, and ecological assessment—particularly within the Port Phillip and Westernport Region. You’ll bring hands-on experience in project management, data collection, and ecological monitoring, with proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and GIS. Your background includes conservation works, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), and using various equipment for environmental maintenance. Strong communication and leadership skills are key, as you’ll liaise with stakeholders and ensure excellent customer service. You’ll be adaptable, organised, and capable of managing competing priorities while delivering results.
