Your new companyOur teams are currently involved in major infrastructure projects for both the public and private sectors including Victoria’s flagship level crossing removals, upgrades to the regional rail network and multiple upgrades to sections of Melbourne’s extensive tram network. As the leading rail infrastructure contractor in Australia we have deep local roots operating under strong Australian leadership with a highly capable domestic workforce and a thorough understanding of the local market.The Opportunity:The Senior, Safety Advisor reports to the Victorian Manager, Minor Works and is the lead safety resource for Minor Works. This role will see you working across metro and regional Victoria, coaching, mentoring and educating the team. You will lead investigations, co-ordinate the health and safety systems, identify hazards and assess risks, recommend appropriate safety controls and provide advice on incident prevention and occupational health to management and employees.Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake regular and systematic audits across multiple project sites, covering management systems, safe work procedures, behavioural safety and preventative measures
- Manage and supervise administration staff in the implementation of occupational health and safety induction and training programmes
- Ensure the Project is compliant with the requirements of the relevant legislation, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards and adherence to the policies and procedures referred to in the Safety Management Plan
- Approve, develop and maintain a base SWMS register and support Project staff in reviewing and updating Project SWMS
- Review subcontractor Health & Safety policies and procedures and ensure compliance under statutory guidelines
- Review all Health & Safety incidents, lead investigations and provide recommendations
Required Skills and Competencies
- Tertiary Qualified in Occupational Health and Safety or relevant experience
- 5+ years’ related experience as an HSE Advisor in the commercial construction industry, in disciplines such as rail and associated infrastructure
- Demonstrated Incident Investigation experience (ICAM/Root Cause or equivalent)
- Fluent in the Microsoft Office suite of desktop applications and related software packages, with proficiency in Excel and Project a must (proficiency in Primavera P6 an advantage)
- Current Driver Licence and your own reliable vehicle.
