While this role is based in Melbourne, it involves working with teams across our offices.We advise on a broad range of regulatory investigations and disputes includinga particular focus on Corporations Law. We act for large Australian and global corporate and regulated clients and are regularly engaged by Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC).Our Regulatory Disputes & Investigations team is recognised as leading some of Australia’s most complex and high-profile Corporations Law matters and is called on by the regulators to provide strategic advice on their most complex cases, including the following current matters:
- ASIC’s proceeding against Star Casino’sformer directors (see

) * ASIC’s defence of the proceedings commenced by Clive Palmer(see
)We currently have an opportunity available for a Senior Associate who is commercially focused and possesses strong regulatory disputes and investigation skills.You will have responsibility for day to day carriage of matters including liaising with directly with clients and preeminent counsel. Advising corporate clients and regulators, you will be involved in and gain exposure to matters involving:
- Breach of directors’ duties
- Unconscionable Conduct
- Misleading or deceptive conduct
- Continuous disclosure obligations
- Insider trading
- Accessorial liability
Requirements
- 5+ years PQE experience gained within a reputable practice with significant exposure to regulatory investigations and litigation arising from the Corporations Act2001and ASIC Act 2001
- A strong desire to work on high profile complex matters
- Exceptional client liaison skills
- Outstanding analytical, technical and drafting skills
