Job description: The Manager, Transmission is a crucial role that leads a small team ensuring the successful integration, established timelines and general oversight of the delivery of transmission for offshore wind.This position closely collaborates with VicGrid, focusing on the alignment of delivery schedules and proponent engagement, joint management of issues and risks relating to the overall offshore wind transmission’s program. The Manager will be responsible for delivering and overseeing the transmission Client Requirements Document, ensuring all aspects are met to the highest standards.Additionally, this role will involve guiding the Offshore Wind (OSW) policy settings concerning access arrangements, connections, and connection coordination. The Manager, Transmission, will act as a key liaison, ensuring that policy settings and development plans are well-aligned with both organisational and regulatory requirements.Accountabilities
- Provide strategic leadership and hands-on supervision to guide, motivate, and manage team performance, ensuring clear goals are set, regular feedback is given, and professional development opportunities are implemented to enhance team skills and efficiency.
- Oversee the management of program budgets, ensuring accurate forecasting, tracking of expenditures, and compliance with financial guidelines. Facilitate the timely acquittal of funds and prepare comprehensive financial reports, ensuring accountability and transparency in line with funding requirements.
- Initiate, build and manage confident and collaborative working relationships with stakeholders including departmental executives, Ministers and associated departments and industries to facilitate sound and integrated advice.
- Provide sound and timely advice to internal and external stakeholders and prepare and present detailed reports, ministerial briefs, cabinet and agency submissions as required.
- Confidently represent the Department as required at key internal and external decision making and policy and program forums, at conferences and meetings.
- Effectively plan and monitor team workloads to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality services, maintaining operational efficiency and meeting performance standards.
- Lead and contribute to strategic planning initiatives, driving problem-solving efforts across the branch, division, and group. Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify challenges, develop innovative solutions, and align strategies with organisational goals to enhance overall performance and outcomes.
- Practice cultural safety by creating environments, relationships, and systems free from racism and discrimination so that people can feel safe, valued and able to participate.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Understanding of Victorian and/or national energy markets, systems and frameworks; electricity transmission networks; and familiarly with renewable energy trends is highly desirable
- Demonstrated experience delivering regulatory, operational and commercial agreements is highly desirable.
- Formal qualifications in economics, commerce, law, or energy or utility systems and regulation are desirable.
This is a fixed term position available for a period until 30 June 2027.
