You could be one of our 3100 committed team members who are up to the challenge.About the roleThe Freight Growth Manager position offers a unique opportunity to lead strategic initiatives, collaborate with key stakeholders, and contribute to the development of a commercially viable rail freight industry. You’ll be at the forefront of driving innovation and growth in rail freight, making a significant impact on the network’s efficiency and sustainability.Key accountabilities include:· Strategise and implement: Develop and execute innovative strategies for rail freight growth in partnership with the Department of Transport and Planning (DTP).· Lead decarbonisation: Drive efforts to minimise carbon emissions in rail freight.· Drive growth programs: Coordinate and deliver impactful growth and improvement programs with stakeholders.· Integrate objectives: Embed freight goals into V/Line’s strategic, operational, and maintenance planning.· Prioritise investments: Identify key investment priorities and support budget submissions to drive growth.· Elevate rail freight: Raise the profile of rail freight through compelling data and reporting.· Ensure safety: Maintain a safe workplace by effectively managing risks.· Shape strategic plans: Define and execute V/Line’s strategic plan for increasing rail freight’s market share.· Innovate and deliver: Lead the development and implementation of new freight initiatives and projects.About youWe are seeking a dynamic and visionary Freight Growth Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Victorian freight rail network, including its limitations and key stakeholders. You will be adept at collating and growing freight by leading strategic investments and overseeing the entire process. As a subject matter expert, you will possess extensive network knowledge and freight experience, enabling you to drive impactful growth initiatives and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.Key skills and experience include:· Extensive network knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of the Victorian freight rail network and its limitations.· Freight experience: Proven experience in the freight industry, with a focus on rail freight.· Stakeholder management: Strong ability to manage and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including V/Line, other networks, government, and industry partners.· Strategic planning: Clear aptitude for strategic planning and the ability to develop and implement growth strategies.· Project management: Strong project management skills with a successful track record of managing projects from inception to completion.· Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills, providing clear direction and guidance to teams and stakeholders.· Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to persuade and negotiate effectively.· Problem solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a timely and consistent manner.· Innovation: Ability to drive innovation and develop new initiatives to maximise freight volume.· Safety management: Commitment to maintaining a safe workplace by effectively managing risks.· Values alignment: Demonstrated alignment with V/Line’s values of responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership, and human rights.A full position description will be made available to interviewees.If your skills or experience don’t exactly match our listed requirements, we still encourage you to apply.
