Job description: Maha Restaurant, celebrated chef Shane Delia’s flag ship modern Australian Middle Eastern restaurant in the CBD, is seeking an aspiring Sommelier.
We are a diversified restaurant group with an engaging and loyal community. We offer multiple opportunities within our restaurant group, our flagship Maha we have two private dining rooms a 120 seat dining room and an adjacent cocktail bar with an indulgent private dining space. Our group also encompassed two inner suburban wine bars, food retail brands at Melbourne airport and ongoing collaborations with all of Melbourne’s major events and business community.
We have a keen focus and outstanding reputation serving seasonal and sustainable ingredients and being the leader for modern middle eastern cuisine in Australia. Our service style is warm and welcoming and focusing on experiences that exceed our guests expectations.
Maha also offers an award winning wine list featuring both local and international wines, and a wide range of craft beers and spirits.
This position would suit an enthusiastic and dedicated hospitality professional.

A minimum two years’ experience in a similar role will be highly regarded
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience within a fast-paced venue, be guest focused and have a hands-on approach
- Demonstrate a passion for wine and hold WSET / CMS qualifications
- Knowledge of the Australian and international market
- A willingness to further their knowledge base, including industry trends and new products
- A friendly and outgoing, can-do attitude
- Be willing to go the extra mile to make our guests experience memorable
- Be self-motivated, passionate and able to work within a team environment
- A keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- The ability to take direction and also work autonomously
- The flexibility to work weekends and public holidays
- The ability to mentor other wine team members and build a strong beverage culture working alongside other member of our management team
- Be accountable and achieve deadlines
- A high level of attention to detail in relation to data input and stocktaking
