Job description: Melbourne Storm is an Australian professional rugby league club playing in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. We are the only NRL team based in Victoria and have experienced substantial growth and success in our short history.About the roleWe are searching for a creative, passionate and motivated individual to join our dynamic Digital and Content team. Reporting to the Head of Digital and Content, the Social Media Specialist will be responsible for coordinating social media and digital content across Melbourne Storm platforms and owned channels with the aim to deliver strong and engaging content for the Club’s members and fans. This role will focus on social content generation, driving innovation and ensuring that Melbourne Storm is at the forefront of the latest online trends to build and maintain fan engagement.The Social Media Specialist will need to bring a strong knowledge of social media trends, exceptional copy writing skills, high attention to detail and a proven ability to multitask and deliver to agreed timelines. To succeed in this role the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business and build relationships will be key.This role will be responsible for a number of key deliverables across social media, website and digital content and administration, including, but not limited to:

  • Working closely with the Head of Digital and Content, to manage the planning and execution of the digital and social media content plan.
  • Developing and leading our social media channels including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube and LinkedIn.
  • Daily administration and community management of social media platforms.
  • Developing and creating engaging content, story concepts and multimedia for social media.
  • Capturing training, game day and Club event content.
  • Monitoring social media performance through analytics tools to provide insights on performance.
  • Championing the Club website and app including management of the CMS.
  • Managing general website administration including but not limited to updating graphics and tiles, adding pages, updating and maintenance of photo galleries.
  • Working with key stakeholders to ensure all sections of the website remain current in content, look and feel.
  • Engaging with the Club’s digital community to grow, nurture and commercialise relationships through exciting content and enriching experiences.
  • Working with internal stakeholders to organise player / coaches / key personnel for web content.

Due to the nature of our industry, this role will be required to work on game day and at nominated Club events, which will require some weekend and evening availability, and some occasional travel.The successful candidate will possess:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Communications, Journalism or Public Relations.
  • 1-3 years’ experience working in digital, social media or communications.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and trends.
  • Knowledge and proven experience managing websites, apps and mobile sites including CMS and VMS.
  • Demonstrated experience building and sending eDMs.

Experience in the sporting industry will be highly regarded.What we offer:
