Job description: Overview:Full-time, Continuing positionSalary HEW 8 + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working ArrangementsBased at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the UniversityAbout The PositionThe Senior Specialist, Digital Learning Resources is tasked with designing, developing and implementing interactive Library learning resources tailored for educational and research purposes. This role involves the collaborative development of reusable, purpose-built interactive objects, e-resources, website and multimedia resources to boost student engagement and support teaching, learning, and research initiatives.In addition to providing leadership and expert advice on learning design and future pedagogies to enhance educational practices and outcomes, the incumbent will execute innovative and effective digital learning resource projects. These projects will align with Library and University strategic priorities and adhere to university education principles.The Senior Specialist, Digital Learning Resources will work closely with subject matter experts to identify and negotiate learning concepts, objectives, and deliverables, transforming these into digital resources that achieve the desired outcomes. Additionally, this role may involve working on various projects and programs across the Library.To be successful in this position, you’ll have:Evidence of extensive experience in learning resource development and design, digital pedagogies and educational innovationProven skills and experience in the use of innovative pedagogies to enhance student outcomes and staff practiceAdvanced knowledge of digital learning principles and practices, as well as current and future trends in digital learning technologiesProven technical skills including sound knowledge of User Interface/User Experience Design aesthetics, web development, and ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio scripts/video scripts.Experience with the production of digital learning resources that include but are not limited to the use of web, video and multimedia production techniques.Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to work as part of a team whilst managing competing workflows and deadlines in a dynamic and complex environmentHighly developed analytical and synthesis skills, including the ability to make independent judgements and solve problems within a complex environmentDemonstrated ability to negotiate with and influence stakeholders to enable evidence-based outcomes in design and management of digital learning resourcesDemonstrated outstanding problem solving and critical thinking ability and flexibility to adapt work practices and models according to needPlease Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.About the GroupRMIT University Library is a creative partner in the achievement of RMIT University’s teaching, learning and research goals. It engages with other groups within the University to design initiatives that have a positive impact on the student experience including the provision of direct support, advice and guidance for students’ academic skill development. It provides resources, services and facilities to support the information needs of RMIT’s large and globally distributed student and staff population and supplies expertise for the management of the University’s archives and business information. In 2022 The Library recorded 14.9 million engagements with its communities across its products and services.In order to support the goals and operations of the University the Library is arranged into 5 main functional areas: Learning; Teaching and Research; Collections; Quality and Engagement; and Information Management and Archives. The Library increasingly delivers collections and services online to maximize access by the RMIT user population. In 2020 RMIT University had an enrolled population of nearly 96,000 students of which there were over 14,000 VE students, nearly 17,000 postgraduates and over 17,000 studying from offshore. The Library’s programs apply equally to this large and widely distributed range of students.At RMIT Melbourne, the University Library operates from 4 different locations: the Swanston Library; the Bundoora Library; the Carlton Library and Brunswick Library and manages a Makerspace on the city campus. At RMIT Vietnam, the Library supports over 9,000 students from 2 locations: Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. All of the libraries are networked for wireless.
