Sitting within the wellbeing stream, we are commencing a project aiming to support patients to return to work after cancer treatment.We recently received funding to progress the planning, design, and delivery of this project. The project will focus on young adult patients with brain cancer who are experiencing late effects of their treatment. This could include fatigue, lymphoedema (swelling), pain, sleep disturbance, and more. The project will design a multi-faceted return-to-work model that may include work readiness skills development, facilitated placements with selected employers, education materials, workplace mentoring, and employer training programs.The purpose of this position is to establish the project, design the return-to-work model, and commence recruiting participants to the project. It is a 3 days per week (0.6FTE) position for 2 years, with aspirations to extend if sufficient funding is secured. Days, hours, and work-from-home arrangements are somewhat flexible for the right candidate, but you will be required to work in-person at our Melbourne campus most of the time. Salary range is between $52,836.37 per annum (prorated for part-time) and $58,409.68 per annum (pro-rated) depending on candidate experience. The full-time equivalent rate is $83,657.60 per annum to $92,482.00 per annum depending on candidate experience. 1. Scope and plan the project • Confirm the scope, purpose and objectives of the project in line with requirements of the grant funding agency
- Develop project control documents including a project plan, stakeholder engagement plan, budget, and risk register
- Identify and prioritise key internal and external stakeholders
- Establish project governance and advisory arrangements, including ongoing engagement of people with lived experience
- Identify any relevant legal or regulatory considerations for the project, and associated management strategies
- Identify and lead the application for any additional funding source
- If required, gain approval for the project from the Peter Mac Ethics Committee
2. Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with employers • Assist in identifying potential employers that could partner in delivery of the return-to-work model
- Support the Director Paediatric and Late Effects Service and Director Patient Experience and Wellbeing to establish and maintain relationships with employers
- Prepare and oversee execution of any documentation required to maintain relationships with employers, for example agreements or memorandums of understanding

3. Design the return-to-work model • Undertake a literature review and environmental scan of relevant programs and evidence
- Design a return-to-work model that will support patients to re-enter the workforce after cancer treatment. This could include work readiness skills development, facilitated placements with selected employers, education materials, workplace mentoring, and employer training programs,
- Prepare an evaluation strategy that will measure the effectiveness and impact of the return-to-work model
4. Deliver the return-to-work model • Prepare all materials required to commence delivery of the model. This could include operational guides, communications plans and assets, position descriptions, or data collection instruments
- Prepare relevant stakeholders to commence patient recruitment. This could include delivery of education sessions, simulations, or distributing materials
- Commence patient recruitment and delivery of the return-to-work model, including supporting participants as designed in the model
- Collect and analyse data on program effectiveness in real-time, adjusting the model as required to ensure project objectives
- Continue managing project governance
