We are a dedicated team who value connection and collaboration and provide a supportive environment to learn and develop.The Austin Health Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Service offers a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to obesity care. Providing services across Austin and Repatriation campuses, the team is dedicated to delivering innovative, evidence-based care for those seeking surgical treatment for obesity. Austin Health is a nationwide leader in the provision of publicly funded metabolic and bariatric surgery having been established for over 14 years, treating approximately 180 patients annually, and one of few public services which offers both medical and surgical treatment options.About the roleAs the Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will provide specialist psychological assessment and intervention to clients in the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Service. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing, and other allied health disciplines to provide best practice care for clients referred for bariatric management.A regular day will see you:
- Providing comprehensive psychological care to clients within the Bariatric Service in an outpatient setting.
- Adopting a flexible approach to clinical caseload management and the provision of psychology services that will include individual and group intervention, commonly targeting self-management.
- Actively participate in interdisciplinary clinical discussions and work collaboratively within the broader multidisciplinary team including providing secondary consultation to contribute positively to client outcomes.
About youTo be successful in this role you will have:
- Masters or Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Psychology Board of Australia and endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist;
- Experience providing comprehensive psychological care within a health or hospital based setting.
- Knowledge and skills working with clients with chronic and complex health conditions.
- High level interpersonal skills that promote teamwork and engagement.
- For appointment at a Grade 3 level, candidates should have at least five years’ clinical experience and AHPRA approved supervisor status.
