We are one team, helping to connect and shape a better Melbourne.Applications for this role close 31/03/2025.About the roleWe’re looking for a dedicated professional to support the New Train Risk and Safety Systems Assurance team in overseeing accreditation, management of change, and safety assurance for the testing, operation, and maintenance of the new X’Trapolis 2.0 train.This hybrid role offers the flexibility of working both remotely and at our Docklands Head Office, providing a dynamic work environment where you can make a real impact on Melbourne’s rail network.Key role responsibilities
- Coordinate and maintain the X’Trapolis 2.0 Safety Assurance Management Plan and associated reports throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and provide value-adding feedback on supplier safety assurance artefacts to support project and MTM objectives.
- Lead and support risk workshops in line with MTM’s Integrated Risk Management procedure (A2023) and manage project risk registers.
- Develop and maintain a Management of Change (MoC) program, ensuring key milestone events align with ONRSR requirements.
- Oversee the Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) contract, ensuring effective delivery and alignment with safety requirements.
- Act as the key interface between contractors and MTM, managing land transfers, lease agreements, and stakeholder consultations.
- Ensure compliance with MTM’s Enterprise Risk Management and Safety Management System (SMS), integrating safety into design, risk workshops, and testing phases.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement, including consultation workshops with government departments, Rail Transport Operators, and internal teams.
- Promote a strong safety culture, ensuring that all risks are managed and that compliance with all regulatory requirements is maintained
Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Transport Planning, Rail Operations, Business Management, Engineering, Risk Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Change Management, Risk Management, or a related role within a project, systems development, or construction environment.
- Experience managing diverse stakeholder groups and integrating complex systems into an operating rail network.
- Strong background in developing and maintaining change management documentation and risk registers.
- Management experience in railway operations or maintenance, with an understanding of organisational integration.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with excellent report writing and communication abilities.
- Proven ability to prioritise tasks, meet strict deadlines, and effectively engage with personnel at all levels.
- Understanding of the end-to-end project lifecycle.
