We are one team, helping to connect and shape a better Melbourne.Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) are currently recruiting for a experienced Safety Delivery Manager to join and support the Metro Trains Infrastructure Division.The Safety Delivery Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight, development, and leadership of all safety programs within the Infrastructure division. The role ensures compliance with the Rail Safety Act, Rail Safety Management System (RSMS), and other relevant legislation while embedding a culture of Zero Harm.You will work closely with leadership teams, frontline managers, and contractors to drive continuous improvement, manage safety risks, and oversee the successful implementation of safety initiatives in all infrastructure operations and activities.This position is a permanent opportunity based at E-Gate with a team of five direct reports and a wider team of 10.Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership on safety across the Infrastructure division, ensuring compliance with the Rail Safety Act and relevant
- Lead the integration of safety protocols into all stages of Infrastructure operations, ensuring adherence to safety standards from planning to execution.
- Leadcompliance reviews, ensure appropriate controls, and oversee safety compliance during rail maintenance, asset management, and operations.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts through the evaluation of safety performance data, ensuring a learning-based approach to safety management.
- Oversee the investigation of major incidents, ensuring root cause analysis and prompt corrective actions are completed to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure compliance with statutory obligations and internal governance processes related to incident reporting and corrective actions.
- Provide leadership and support to the safety team, develop KPIs, and report regularly to senior leadership and external regulators
- Assist MTM management to provide appropriate solutions to project related conflicts, and help to achieve resolution of any client/customer/stakeholder grievances as they arise.
- Ensure construction standards are maintained and conform to applicable safety, reliability and quality requirements.
About You:
- Significant experience in a senior safety management position within rail infrastructure, construction or heavy industry
- Proven track record in delivering safety initiatives for large-scale infrastructure projects and relevant safety legislation
- Expertise in risk management, including safety audits, inspections, risk assessments, incident investigation, and corrective actions
- Expertise in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions
- Leadership skills with the ability to influence, engage, and develop teams, along with strong interpersonal and communication abilities
