Job description: Overview:Full-time, Fixed Term Position for 1 YearSalary Academic Level A + 17% Superannuation and Flexible Working ArrangementsBased at the Melbourne CBD campus, but may be required to work and/or be based at other campuses of the University About The Position:We are seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the Materials Modelling and Simulation Group at RMIT University. This 1-year position (with a possible 6-month extension) offers a unique opportunity to study the electronic structure and reactivity of gold nanomaterials using quantum chemistry. The successful candidate will collaborate with Distinguished Professor Irene Yarovsky and Dr. Benjamin Noble (ARC DECRA Fellow) on ARC-funded research focused on investigating the catalysis and degradation of gold materials.To be successful in this position, you’ll have:PhD (or equivalent) in computational and/or theoretical chemistry or will complete a PhD in this field within the next six months.Experience in developing and/or using quantum chemical and/or density functional theory methods using a variety of software packages.Demonstrated ability to undertake high-quality research and write high-impact manuscripts in international peer-reviewed journals.Demonstrated ability to work effectively both as a member of a research team and independently when required, to meet project outcomes and milestones.Demonstrated ability to efficiently run simulations on High Performance Computing (HPC) facilities.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills appropriate for interacting with research students, staff and external stakeholders, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration.Please Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.About the CollegeThe STEM College holds a leading position and expertise in the science, technology, engineering, mathematics and health (STEM) fields.
