About Us:Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) is a 954-bed maximum-security remand facility based in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Prisoners on remand are alleged offenders who were not bailed when charged with a crime and are awaiting the outcome of their court case.Offending Behaviour Programs seek to reduce an offender’s risk of re-offending. Interventions may address violence propensity, general offending behaviour, motivation to change, maintaining change, emotion management and other offence-related topics. Offending Behaviour Programs (OBP) are delivered via a hybrid services delivery model comprised of departmental staff and private providers. Regional OBP is responsible for providing Offending Behaviour Programs to eligible Prisoners in public Prisons and offenders reporting to Community Correctional Services.About the Role:Reporting to the Offender Services Manager the Remand Program Facilitator (OBP) is primarily responsible for the coordination and facilitation of the full suite of OBP Remand Programs, Adjustment stream and skills development stream at the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC).This position may require direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.Some of your duties will include:

  • Coordinating and facilitating psychoeducation and/or skills-based programs as required within the region.
  • Monitoring program referrals from MAP, MRC and DPFC to ensure adherence to the OBP service delivery model.
  • Consulting and liaising with prison staff, Offender Service staff, OBP staff and contracted program providers in relation to program delivery requirements.

  • Experience in and/or understanding of working within a correctional environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under minimal supervision, as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Computer program skills, such as, excel for data management.

Qualifications:

  • Expertise in programs and service delivery/coordination within a correctional environment is highly desirable.
