About the Business Unit:H.M. Prison Langi Kal Kal is a minimum-security men’s protection prison located 140klm west of Melbourne at Trawalla. The prison’s primary purpose is to prepare male prisoners for transition, reintegration, and release. As a working farm with eight separate industries, there is a strong focus on employment, training, and work readiness.About the Role:The Recreation Officer will assess recreation requirements of general and special needs prisoners to inform development of recreation programs for individuals and groups.Some of your duties will include:
- Coordinating, facilitating and supervising a range of recreational activities and programs for prisoners providing instruction, coaching, and training
- Assessing recreation requirements of general and special needs prisoners to inform development of recreation programs for individuals and groups
- Communicating with and giving directions to prisoners in a respectful and motivational manner, responding to prisoner complaints and requests, and providing pro-active assistance and guidance to prisoners as required.
