  • Approx. $70-$80 per hour plus Super dependent on experience

About the roleGovernment department seeks experienced Project Managers to join them on full-time, 6-month contracts based in Melbourne CBD. As the Project Managers, you will be responsible for the management of a wide range of commercial construction projects.You will be accountable for ensuring deliverables, outcomes and plans are managed effectively, working in consultation with the delivery team and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.Key dutiesYour key tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the delivery of capital works projects (i.e. office refurbishment, office fitout, minor works, and new builds) allocated to the division’s providers to program, quality, and budget in accordance with relevant financial legislation and department policies.
  • Monitoring third party vendors for compliance with government policies and building standards on quality, methodology, documentation, and governance practices.
  • Managing the procurement of, and administering other contracts with technical advisers, construction contractors and other consultants associated with allocated projects in consultation with the division’s Procurement and Contract Management teams.
  • Managing and monitoring contract budgets and provide input into relevant reporting to key stakeholders.
  • Managing to deadlines on contract deliverables and communicating on an ongoing basis with business partners and internal clients.
  • Assessing claims, variations and Extension of Time requests and progress payment requests.
  • Completing various administration duties as required with respect to data recording and management. Preparing program updates, briefings, and reports as required.
  • Producing program or project reports and provide advice to enable effective decision making. Report upon performance standards such as timelines, budgets, quality of outcomes/outputs.

Key Selection CriteriaThe skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include:

  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in project management, design, or construction from a public sector background preferably.
  • Experience in Project Delivery: executing work tasks against plan; prioritising tasks in line with the urgency and impact of tasks; utilising approved task management tools and maintaining accurate project records.
  • Stakeholder Management experience: keeping clients or stakeholders up to date with issues and developments and promptly following through on inquiries, requests, and complaints.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Design or Construction Management, or Project Management
