PRESS RELEASE: The EMRC Chairperson Announces Appointment of New CEO


The EMRC Chairperson is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Matthew MacPherson as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), following a special Council meeting held on 29 August 2024.
The appointment comes after a rigorous recruitment process, reflecting the EMRC Council’s commitment to securing a highly qualified and experienced leader for the organisation. Mr MacPherson brings an outstanding reputation in the local government sector, having most recently served as the Director of Technical Services for the City of Nedlands. Prior to this, he was the Manager of Infrastructure Management Services at the City of Joondalup.
EMRC Chairperson Filomena Piffaretti expressed confidence in Mr MacPherson’s ability to lead the organisation into a new era of growth and development. ‘We are thrilled to welcome Matthew to the EMRC team. His extensive experience and proven track record in local government will be invaluable as we continue to strive for excellence in service delivery and community engagement,’ said the EMRC Chairperson.
Mr MacPherson’s appointment marks a significant milestone for the EMRC, and the Council looks forward to his leadership in driving key sustainability initiatives and projects that will benefit the region.
