About the role
Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) are undergoing a digital and data transformation requiring us to produce new digital tools for the organisation, our clients and practice partners. The Portfolio Manager will be responsible for research and evaluation, data capability and governance, as well as digital information management functions.You will also lead the Outcome & Evidence (O&E) portfolio of strategic initiatives, ensuring projects across digital information, analytics, data science, AI, research, and data governance are effectively managed. You will provide leadership and strategic oversight of O&E’s internal work planning processes and drive O&E’s contribution to VLA’s project prioritisation process by developing compelling project concept briefs, advocating for O&E’s initiatives, and advising on resource needs.This role plays a critical part in building and maintaining partnerships across the organisation and externally, providing input into strategic priorities, and ensuring resources are optimised to achieve impactful outcomes.This role is based at our Melbourne CBD office on Wurundjeri Country.About you
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Proven experience in managing portfolios and strategic projects, with the ability to balance competing priorities, resource constraints, and organizational goals to deliver impactful results.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams, levels, and with senior executives and governance bodies to drive organisational priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to design and implement robust governance frameworks and reporting mechanisms to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment with strategic objectives.
- Formal certification or training in program, portfolio, or project management (e.g., PRINCE2, MSP, PMI), or equivalent strategic management experience (mandatory).
- Tertiary qualifications in program/portfolio management, business, data/information management, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience (highly desirable).
