In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, contributing to the delivery of high-quality care.Your new roleWe are currently seeking proactive Personal Care Assistants to join our friendly and dynamic team working amongst our 5 Residential Aged Care homes located throughout Melbourne on a Casual Basis. Locations include Gilgunya (Coburg), McLean Lodge (Flemington), Port Melbourne Hostel (Port Melbourne), Ron Conn Home (Avondale Heights) and Williamstown Hostel (Williamstown). To be successful in these positions, you must be available to work at a minimum of 2 locations.The schedule will comprise of the below three types of shifts:Morning Shift: 0700 – 1500Evening Shift: 1430 – 22:15Overnight Shift: 2200 – 0715You must be available to attend a Group Interview on Friday 8th of November 2024 in Flemington.Your responsibilities and duties will include:
- Assisting residents with personal care including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming and other activities of daily living
- To observe and report changes in resident’s behaviour or physical condition
- To undertake medication management and treatment procedures as directed by the Residential Site Manager or person in charge
- To liaise with medical practitioners, pharmacists and other health services to provide relevant services for the care and wellbeing of the residents
- Assisting in the implementation of cigarette and alcohol programs
- Observing and reporting changes in residents’ behaviour or physical condition and maintain appropriate documentation as required
- Provide social and emotional support to residents (person centred holistic care).
- Assist residents to access appropriate leisure options in partnership with recreation workers.
- Assist residents to access services they require.
- Resident Social Activities: Assisting residents to take part in social activities such as group recreational activities.
- Recreation Therapy: Accompanying residents on outings to assist a resident with direct care and support.
- Supporting residents with cognitive impairment: One-to-one support to residents with cognitive impairment (for example, dementia and complex disorders) including individual therapy activities and specific programs designed to prevent or manage a particular condition or behaviour and enhance quality of life.
We are looking for candidates with the following:
- Ability to work both in team and autonomously
- Certificate III/IV in Aged Care/Individual Support
- Completion of medication administration unit (HLTHPS006 – Assist Clients with Medication) – (Highly Desirable)
- Prior experience in housing & homelessness support, aged care, welfare, disability support, mental health or community/home care
- Keen eye for detail
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to enhance or maintain our residents independence and lifestyle
- A friendly and non-judgmental attitude
