About the roleAn exciting opportunity exists to join The Alfred Health Occupational Therapy team in a permanent capacity. The Occupational Therapist NDIS Navigator will support the Occupational Therapy and inter-professional team in navigating the processes of the National Disability Insurance Scheme with particular emphasis on discharge planning. The successful applicant will provide expert guidance, clinical leadership and advice to Occupational Therapists to support NDIS registration, planning and implementation to support patient access and flow throughout Alfred Health. In addition, this role will have an important role to play in building capacity of existing teams to improve the health outcomes of people with complex disabilities through consultation and education.The successful OT will work closely with the Occupational Therapy leadership team, the Alfred Health NDIS Hospital Lead, as well as other health services leaders across Alfred Health to strengthen organisational capacity and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. They will be required to display autonomy of practice, whilst also being responsible for service development, supporting education and providing specialist consultation to ensure best practice for patients with complex disabilities requiring support from the NDIS. As a grade 3 clinician, they will actively collaborate with the Allied Health Manager – Occupational Therapy to lead initiatives that align with NDIS policy and practice, and represent Alfred Health in relevant forums as delegated.It is a condition of employment that individuals may be required to work across all Alfred Health sites and services, including weekend and Public Holiday shifts as rostered.Skills & Experience

  • B. App Sc (OT), B. Occupational Therapy, MOT prac or recognised equivalent.
  • Post graduate qualification (Masters level) in one of Occupational Therapy, Public Health, Research and/or Health Management or working towards same.
  • Full Registration held with Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
  • Member of OT Australia (or eligible for membership).
  • Current Victorian Driver’s License (unrestricted).
  • Current Working with Children’s Check
  • Minimum seven years’ clinical experience in Occupational Therapy or equivalent (including a minimum of four years in clinical specialty area)
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise and knowledge of NDIS policy and processes, relevant evidence-based practice and community pathways.
  • Well-developed leadership skills, including the ability to provide consultation and support building capacity of occupational therapy staff with discharge planning of patients with complex disability.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the principles of continuous quality improvement.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills to promote teamwork, and a proven ability to relate effectively to people at all levels of the organisation.
  • Sound skills in organisation, planning and priority setting.
