The Opportunity:We are currently seeking an Operations Manager to join our Melbourne office on a permanent basis.As the Operations Manager you will oversee the delivery of effective and professional business support to our Melbourne office. You will work closely with Practice Executive, Team Executive, Team Assistant, Facilities, Mailroom, and Reception teams to lead and manage individuals to continually develop the service provided to the firm by our Operations team.As an Operations Manager with Ashurst, some of your main responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Team leadership and management
  • Regular review of budgets for function, providing requirements for headcount planning, forecasting, budget settings and review of expenditure in order to encourage a flexible and efficient service
  • Arranging and chairing regular team meetings to share ideas or issues, dealing with action points raised and ensuring communications and updates are regularly passed to the team and other stakeholders in a proactive way
  • Assisting with the development and implementation of firm initiatives or change programmes, including initiatives such workflow design implementation, or process changes while helping to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

  • At least five years’ experience in managing a multi-functional support team within professional services: proven strong people management skills to inspire, motivate and positively influence the team.
  • Ability to demonstrate strategic thinking, balanced with a strong commercial approach: able to provide sound advice or resolution for complex issues.
  • Client service approach: able to use wide networks or industry knowledge and experience to improve processes or plan requirements.
  • Exceptional organisational skills, able to prioritise effectively during pressurised situations, and adjust to changing priorities, deadlines or issues as they arise.
  • Approachable nature, including being able to negotiate or influence stakeholders.
