Cats and the Canary is Australia’s first and only Greek swing band, paying a unique tribute to some of Greece’s most prolific composers. They blend the melodies of Theodorakis, Tsitsanis, Chiotis, Hadjidakis, and occasionally the odd tsifteteli or traditional smyrneika with swing, jazz, and even Latin sounds. With their distinctive musical style and infectious energy, Cats and the Canary have garnered widespread acclaim from both audiences and local media.
They have performed at numerous festivals, including the Brunswick Music Festival and Antipodes Festival, and shows at venues such as the Corner Hotel, Toff In Town, Worker’s Club, and Factory Theatre in Sydney. They return to Melbourne for an entire show after a whole year, ready to make everyone dance.
Opening the night will be the breathtaking Heirs of Apollo, a group that blends traditional Greek tunes with rock to create a one-of-a-kind sound. Heirs of Apollo have received rave reviews for their energy and unique style.
