The Role
The Architect and Strategy Branch (ASB) within Defence Digital Group (DDG) is seeking to recruit multiple EL 1 Enterprise Architects to contribute and manage the design of Defence’s evolving technology ecosystem, digital strategy and supporting strategic frameworks. ASB provide Digital strategic, technology and architectural blueprinting services spanning the entire Defence Digital landscape supporting outcomes for Defence war-fighters, civilians, leadership, programs, projects and capability owners. We intimately understand, map and direct overall Digital technology ecosystems across Defence and proactively and continuously seek to improve the Digital experience for all ADF, APS and partners to meet the needs of the war-fighter during a time where Digital will be key in providing decision support advantage.We are seeking to recruit to positions across the Branch, including Digital Strategy and Roadmaps, Cyber Security Architecture (Security and Data), and Enterprise Architecture (Applications, Integration and Network) and C4ISREW (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare). ASB strategy and roadmaps creates technology business service models and maintains strategic principles enabling Defence capability roadmaps to align with broader strategic intent through modern and reusable architectures.You will collaborate closely in line with the DDG operating model to ensure end-to-end technology blueprints that align with the organisation’s technology roadmap. Together we defend Australia and its national interests by assuring a secure, survivable, and scalable enterprise ICT architecture.A robust merit pool will be created as a result of this recruitment activity.This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. The Architecture and Strategy Team is responsible for promulgating ICT architecture blueprints and managing the Defence Digital Strategy and Roadmaps as the accountable authority leading the Defence ICT technology landscape.Our Ideal Candidate
Our successful candidate will have strong communication skills in order to develop and maintain relationships with a technical workforce, capability managers and project teams. You will exercise a high degree of independence, have strong leadership skills within a diverse and integrated workforce of ICT capability-focused professionals and will be managing the delivery of complex architecture outcomes.Our ideal candidate will have:
- Experience leading a team of ICT capability-focused professionals in a fast-paced, geographically dispersed, maturing, and results-driven environment;
- Strong track record of working in an enterprise architect role including documenting and communicating strategic architectures to clients and delivering impactful technology transformation solutions;
- Ability to interpret and manage the unique architecture of the Defence environment and drive ways to improve ICT maturity across all Defence;
- Strong understanding of enterprise IT infrastructure, software platforms and Cloud environments;
- Experience in modelling and graphic representations of technical concepts;
- Experience contributing to strategy and roadmaps ensuring the efficiency, security, and support of the organisation’s goals;
- Experience promoting high-level architectures and communicating them to solution engineers and business stakeholder; and
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills with demonstrated experience working with key stakeholders.
