About the Role
Reporting to the Executive Director, Workplace Relations & Integrity (WRI), the Director, Workplace Integrity leads a high-performing and expanding team dedicated to fostering a safe and respectful workplace. The team investigates critical matters such as sexual misconduct, bullying, and discrimination, ensuring swift outcomes. The team also provides additional resolution services including mediation and workplace cultural reviews.The Director collaborates closely with key stakeholders – Workplace Relations, Human Resources, and line managers – to achieve optimal case management outcomes and drive continuous improvement in WRI practices. This includes proactively developing and implementing strategies that align with University policies and relevant legislation.Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing regular and empathetic communication with all parties involved in complaints to ensure engagement, informed expectations, and proper care for wellbeing concerns.
  • Undertaking preliminary assessments of complaints in accordance with University policy.
  • Conducting detailed investigations and determine meticulous and defensible findings of facts.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of 2 case managers and 2 internal investigators to support the achievement of organisational objectives while fostering individual growth and job satisfaction.
  • Engaging external investigators ensuring the quality and standard of external investigations findings.

Who we are looking for
We are seeking a leader with exceptional team-building skills, proven experience in developing and motivating staff, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of successful stakeholder engagement within a large, complex organization, demonstrating the ability to influence outcomes and build strong, collaborative relationships based on trust and mutual respect.You will also have:

  • Significant and extensive experience in conducting investigations, mediation and conflict resolution with significant leadership experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated ability in providing strategic advice and guidance in relation to employment law, case management and workplace investigations The University of Melbourne
  • Accredited by a professionally recognised body as a workplace investigator and mediator.
  • Tertiary qualifications and extensive experience either in employment law or senior Human Resources, particularly in the human rights area of expertise.
  • Lateral thinking, common sense and resilience to assess and determine difficult or complex matters within legislative and regulatory parameters.
  • A professional and resilient approach that focuses on the task at hand, desired outcomes and how best to achieve them while meeting a high standard of quality assurance and attention to detail.

This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
