Job description: An opportunity exists for an experienced and energetic Director of Australian Rules Football to lead our program across Melbourne Grammar School. Working within a culture of excellence, you will develop and lead the delivery of a comprehensive, sequential and challenging coaching and skill development program for our students.Using your extensive knowledge of Australian Rules Football, this role will see you:

  • Design a football strategy that will promote a consistent and contemporary game style throughout all Year Levels and for all student abilities with clear performance goals and objectives
  • Lead and guide the use of best practice coaching and strategy, providing guidance, and professional development opportunities to coaching staff
  • In conjunction with senior Australian Rules Football program team members, prepare an annual review that strives to strengthen the sport and program
  • Oversee player and talent development and implement a selection process and guidelines for coaches that aligns with the values of the School, including pathways for elite player
  • Program management includes resourcing, scheduling and oversight of matches, training sessions, pre-season programs and camps
  • Act as a positive ambassador for the program, engaging with the MGS community, supporting the Marn Grook club and attending events as required

  • Proven experience and a record of success in designing and managing an engaging Australian Rules Football program at a high-performance level
  • Effective leadership, planning and administrative skills with the ability to work to timelines
  • Confidence working with, and challenging, highly capable young sportsmen, including elite athletes
  • Enjoyment in building positive and collaborative working relationships with students, staff and other members of the School community
  • Level 2 Coaching Accreditation and a Level 2 First Aid certificate
