Within this role, you will have responsibility for leading and providing specialist advice on various activities that focus on enabling, supporting and improving people’s capacity to be actively involved in social and recreation activities within their local communities. Some key responsibilities include:
- Leading the planning, development and promotion of Sport, Recreation, Leisure & Community facilities within the municipality
- Leading the delivery of responsive and effective plans and projects locally through effective engagement, research, analysis and collaboration with all levels of government, community groups, organisationally and local agencies
- Developing and supporting delivery of capital works projects, preparing plans based on sports preferred standards and relevant technical knowledge
- Managing stakeholder relationships with all relevant stakeholders at all levels
- Identifying, developing and implementing infrastructure projects relating to Sport and Recreation whilst considering and responding to political implications of such work
- Providing recommendations, briefings and regular updates to the Manager and Executive team
- Ensure that all project documentation complies with legislative requirements.
Skills & ExperienceThe successful candidate will hold tertiary qualifications in project management, sport management recreation planning, or a related field combined with several years’ experience in a similar role. They will also possess highly developed written and verbal communication with ability to coach and motivate employees and key stakeholders to provide positive community outcomes.
