The Role:VincentCare Victoria is seeking an experienced and qualified person to take on the position of a Casual Engagement Worker within the new Ozanam House accommodation and Homeless Resource Centre.The role aims to provide a safe and supportive drop-in and accommodation environment, and to co-ordinate the practical aspects of the Homeless Resource Centre and on-site accommodation. Engagement workers provide a variety of supports to clients ranging from assertive engagement, monitoring, managing challenging behaviours and facilitation of planned activity groups. The Engagement worker will work within a multi-faceted team and has a primary focus of facilitating engagement and participation of clients within the service.The role sits within the Engagement team and workers must demonstrate unconditional positive regard and develop genuine, non-judgemental and predictable relationships with people through their journey of crisis, recovery and growth.   • Demonstrated understanding of the range of needs and issues affecting people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
  • Experience in direct service delivery within the human services field.
  • An empowering approach, demonstrating flexibility and initiative, in working with homeless individuals.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, including knowledge of conflict resolution.
  • Ability to be available to work a rotating roster including weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
  • Evidenced administrative accuracy and detail, including timely data entry.

Expected salary: $41.52 – 44.68 per hour
