  • Band 6, $94K – $103K per annum (dependent on experience) + superannuation

About the role
This role supports the Statutory Building Services team in its regulatory, administrative, and enforcement functions. You will conduct building inspections, investigate complaints and breaches, and take action to ensure safety and compliance within set timeframes. The position also provides advice to staff and stakeholders on building regulatory matters.Other responsibilities include:

  • Carry out the inspection of buildings within the City of Glen Eira, as directed, at various stages of construction to ensure compliance with the permit documentation, the Building Act, Building Regulations, Building Code of Australia and other Codes, Standards and Community Local Laws.
  • Investigate complaints and take appropriate action as a result of these investigations to ensure compliance with the Building Act, Building Regulations and other codes, standards and Community local laws.
  • Liaise and advise professionally with owners/builders on site, to promote safety and compliance with the various regulations and acts.

About you
As a Building Inspector, you will work closely with contractors, property owners, and internal teams to ensure compliance and address any issues that arise during inspections. Your ability to communicate clearly and professionally with various stakeholders while maintaining a commitment to safety and quality is key to your success in this role. If you are proactive, detail-oriented, and enjoy working collaboratively, we would love to have you on board.The following is also required:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Building Inspections or Building Surveying
  • Registration or near registration as a building practitioner, in the category of Building Inspector unlimited or limited with the Victorian Building Authority
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of building practices and standards
  • Municipal or private building inspection experience
  • Current Drivers License
