Job description: A new opportunity has arisen for an Associate Nurse Unit Manager of Anaesthetics and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit in the Operating Room department at a private hospital located in the suburbs of Melbourne. This role will be permanent Full-Time with 76 hours per fortnight and will be pivotal in providing direct clinical and administrative leadership to the staff.ROLE OVERVIEWKey Responsibilities:
- Providing clinical leadership and support to nursing staff within the Anaesthetics and PACU departments;
- Ensuring high standards of patient care are maintained at all times in accordance with policies and procedures;
- Assisting with floor coordination and managing staff rostering patient flow, and resource allocation;
- Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) in operational management, including quality improvement initiatives and policy implementation;
- Contributing to budget forecasting and financial management within the department;
- Mentoring and guiding junior nursing staff to foster a collaborative and educational environment.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Current Registration with AHPRA;
- At least 5 years of experience within the Anaesthetics and PACU departments;
- Sound knowledge of ANZCA, ACORN & NSQHS standards;
- Current or previous ANUM/Clinical Nurse Specialist experience;
- Post-Graduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing (APACU), or working towards;
- Exceptional communication skills to be able to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team including surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, and allied support staff to ensure best practice and quality patient outcomes;
- Provide leadership and direction to complement the strategic direction, operational processes, budget, and business direction of the unit and hospital;
- Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic, ever-changing, and fast-paced environment.
