The Role
Within the ICT Service Delivery function an APS 6 ICT Service Manager is accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex ICT service provision work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to ensure they have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.An APS 6 ICT Service Manager will work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work. They will exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures.They will provide detailed ICT service delivery technical, professional and policy advice in relation to complex work and contribute to strategic planning, program and project management and policy development.About our Team
Enterprise Technology Operations Branch (ETOB) delivers quality ICT services to Defence in support of military operations and corporate business.Our purposes and activities centre on supporting ICT operations and maintaining sustainable service levels to provide an effective ICT capability for our customers. ETOB’s role in supporting Joint Capabilities Group (JCG) is integral to the ADF’s role in the protection and projection of national power.Our role will enable Chief of Joint Capabilities (CJC) and Chief Information Officer (CIO) to provide Defence users with access to a secure, reliable and integrated information, communications and technology environment.We are focused and committed to delivering the best ICT services, some of which include:
- Management of applications across information management, business information systems, security and identity domains.
- Management the delivery of Platform Services to Defence and provide governance between the Centralised Processing Project (CP) to deliver software application hosting and data storage services.

The duties of an APS 6 ICT Service Manager occupation in Defence include the following:
- Accountable to allocate work, resources, set work area priorities, develop strategies and evaluate business outcomes.
- Accountable to control IT assets and ensure that administration of the acquisition, storage, distribution, movement and disposal of assets is carried out.
- Manage and maintain the service compliance of all IT and service assets.
- Understand and apply knowledge of system functionality, vendor products and organisational policies.
- Diagnose service delivery problems and initiate actions to maintain or improve.
- Resolve problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify alternative courses of action.
- Understand and apply knowledge of financial and technical processes, tools and techniques ensuring asset controllers, infrastructure teams and the business co-ordinate and maximise value, maintain control and ensure any necessary legal compliance.
Expected salary: $91702 – 104753 per year
