The Role
This role will provide direct support to the Deputy Director Environmental Logistics who is responsible for managing Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group’s (CASG) environmental and Problematic Items of Supply responsibilities in accordance with Defence’s legislative accountability.The Deputy Director is located in Melbourne CBD, but the Material Logistics Function team is spread out across Australia and liaises with an extensive range of stakeholders throughout Defence including: Defence Groups and Services, Industry Peak Bodies and Regulators and Defence industry partners.The role will be accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve complex logistics data analysis, compliance and assurance work within an integrated workforce. You will require an in-depth knowledge of work, health and safety and environmental compliance and legislative frameworks. You will be required to apply government decision-making and establish Defence logistic policy and procedures that align with legislative requirements.The role provides support to Logistic Technical Assessors and other logistic personnel across Defence through the development of policy, processes and procedures guidance relating to Problematic Items of Supply technical data within the Defence Material Master Data Governance system.About our Team
The Materiel Logistics Function team delivers specialist logistics support on matters pertaining to Problematic Items of Supply (PIOS) to ensure Defence continues to meet ongoing requirements to manage PIOS within new and existing capabilities.What is PIOS? An item of supply is problematic when it is subject to a legislative, regulatory requirement or to an international arrangement or convention including but not limited to its use, storage, purchase, transportation, sale, or disposal including embedded hazardous substances.The current criteria for identifying problematic items of supply and detailing their legislative requirements within the Defence supply chain are managed by our team.Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills in logistics systems and logistics data.
- Experience with managing, compliance or assurance for hazardous, industrial or environmental chemicals and Safety Data Sheet requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build productive working relationships with internal and external clients, service providers and stakeholders.
- Excellent attention to detail, an ability to exercise sound judgement and highly developed sound analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, particularly written communication, and the ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
- Well-developed organisational skills, administrative, and planning skills.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively and consistently meet deadlines and ensure delivery against objectives.
- An ability to model inclusive behaviour and the Defence values. Always act in a manner that advances the reputation of CASG and Materiel Logistics Function as professional, responsive, outcomes oriented and discrete.
- Experience with SAP S4 Hana or Integrated Product Support while not essential would be well regarded.
