With talented team members integrated across the business, the team keeps Hassell running smoothly through partnerships with our studio Business Support teams.Job DescriptionWe are seeking an Accountant to join our global Finance team, based in Melbourne. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that the financial activities of our Australian group of companies comply with statutory requirements and internal policies. You will also play a key role in supporting and coordinating Accounts Payable operations. This position is full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract, covering a period of maternity leave.The role focus is on:
- Managing bank reconciliations, cash flow and payment approvals.
- Prepare monthly BAS/ITI and assist with annual FBT lodgements
- Maintain monthly balance sheets, including fixed assets, prepayments, accruals and leases.
- Maintain intercompany reconciliations and intercompany recharges.
- Prepare and process monthly Corporate Travel transactions.
- Support external annual audits and sustainability reporting, assist with external auditors with audit inquiries and support requests.
- Assist the Accounts Payable process, ensuring timely invoice processing, escalating local approvals and information requirements, assisting with D365 queries, as well as providing operational guidance.
- Partner with various internal and external stakeholders across the business, including HP finance, our corporate travel partners, banking providers and the Hassell Technology and Sustainability team.
- Assist Finance Managers with ad hoc reporting projects and tasks.
QualificationsWe are looking for someone with 3+ years of experience in an accountant role, preferably with experience in the construction, design, or professional services sectors.
- Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Experience using large ERP systems and advanced Excel skills, alongside familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.).
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
- A commitment to quality and ethical conduct.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams.
