Backed by a large team of skilled Support Workers, we are committed to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities through innovative and personalized care solutions.About the roleAs a senior Occupational Therapist at Crescent Respite, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of assessments and interventions, including mental, physical, psychosocial and forensic assessments, functional capacity assessments, sensory and cognitive assessments, and capacity building to foster independence.You will also be responsible for training staff, conducting manual handling assessments and reports, and recommending assistive technology and home modifications. Additionally, you will conduct comprehensive housing assessments and reports for various accommodation options such as ILO, SIL, and SDA. Your expertise will ensure that participants receive personalised, effective support tailored to their unique needs.Key Responsibilities
- Assess individuals both within Crescent Respite facilities and in the community settings.
- Conduct Functional Capacity Assessments and prepare comprehensive reports.
- Provide high-level, evidence-based clinical advice and support to individuals with disabilities and their families.
- Ensure all services are person-centered and align with NDIS requirements for optimal client outcomes.
- Maintain registration and uphold best practices in Disability Services.
- Promote and develop independence and community living skills among clients.
- Offer occupational therapy recommendations tailored to individual needs.
- Identify client goals and implement therapeutic interventions accordingly.
- Evaluate and recommend assistive technology and environmental modifications.
- Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams to achieve client-centered outcomes for complex cases.
- Provide mentorship, supervision, and training to junior staff, including support workers.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals with both mental and physical disabilities.
- Proficiency in conducting comprehensive house assessments to ensure safe and functional living environments.
- Ability to manage a caseload of up to 15 clients, delivering a combination of therapeutic interventions and community-based support.
Selection Criteria
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Extensive experience in the provision of person-centred disability services and high-level knowledge and understanding of the NDIS quality framework required in Disabilities.
- Willing to travel to STA, MTA, SIL & SDA houses and respite facilities across Melbourne
- Experience in managing a team and coordination with team leaders and external stakeholders.
Mandatory Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
- NDIS worker screening check
- First Aid and CPR
- Satisfactory National Police Check (willing to obtain one)
- Employee Working with Children Check (willing to obtain one)
- Current AHPRA Registration
- Victorian Driver’s Licence
