Southeast QLD is preparing for an Epic Battle as the BMD Rumble Pro Tour Skateboarding Competition Descends on the region starting this saturday.
For those unfamiliar, skateboarding doesn’t have the financial backing of sports like Soccer, but the tours social media alone performs about 6.5X higher than the A league.
Skateboarding still remains culturally underground, but impactful at the same time.
While our Aus Olympic team have one final battle this weekend in Budapest to see who will go through to Paris, the rest of us are descending into Queensland for a week of skateboarding, with a huge finale on the saturday, when some of our Olympic Squad will return.
The week starts with a competition this weekend in Gatton, as part of the full scale week of skateboarding celebration that will clear your footpaths as you hear the sound of skateboards rolling across the region
On Wednesday In Flagstone and Thursday in Esk, NSW Representatives Noah Bowden and Danno Woolley, Victoria’s Hamed Anvari and WA’s Josh Birtwhistle will be heading out to community much like the Maroons fan days. The roadshow events with the pros have demos, signings, giveaways, clinics & Jams and are 100% open to the public.
Friday is where the chaos begins, with the top junior skateboarders across Australia battling it out for 2 Golden Tickets into the Saturday pro event. The 2 Winners of Fridays Under 16s in Male and Female will earn a spot in the Saturday pro event.
From 3pm Saturday expect to see Olympians, Some of Australia’s and Pacific’s best, and the underdogs put on a show for the ages. Last years highest run scorer Corey Nixon is back with a plan to take the title.
The broadcast will be global, live and free on Streamer from 4pm AEST.
Australia is one of the strongest skateboarding nations in the world, with Pacific Action Sports delivering 90% of our Olympic Squad, as well as the National Junior League, An established broadcast Pro Tour & more. Like skateboarding, its not easy, despite the sport being in the Olympics and the IOCs #1 priority, the sport has been supporting itself at the grassroots without state and federal funding.
