Let me set the scene. After driving for miles and miles, you finally get to see your long distance lover. You decide to go to the movies. You’ve selected a good movie to see. You’ve got the popcorn. The lights begin to dim and you both fall silent.
Does anyone else see what’s wrong with this picture?
You may be lucky enough to get a whole weekend with each other, or maybe just a couple of hours, however long you are planning to spend with your partner, choosing a date where you are both silent for the whole time is NOT the best idea.
A better idea would be to pick some dates where you can chat and bond with them. I’m certain that you can think up some better ideas if you really put your mind to it.. But in the case that you are struggling, we have laid out our favourites below.
Star Gazing
Get in your car and drive out 20 minutes away from the bright lights. Lay a blanket on the ground and bring some hot chocolate. For the computer smart people among you, there is an awesome iPhone app called “Star Walk” where you are able to track all the stars in the sky. This is a great opportunity to chat, share stories and really bond with one another.
Ice Skating
A date at the ice rink can be one of the most fun of all. As you skate around you will find yourself grabbing your partners hands. If it’s your first time skating then you may find that you fall a lot. But you shouldn’t worry, over on the ice now and again. Gents, always remember to offer your girl a hand when she gets back on her feet. And Ladies, please don’t laugh too much when you watch your guy fall. This date can get pretty physical and pretty soon I’m sure you’ll be pretending to trip over just so that you can grab onto one another.
Mountaineering
Pack a picnic, a map, and spend the day together in the beautiful great outdoors. Make sure you take a camera for those perfect picture moments, and remember to take a makeshift first aid kit and plenty of drinking water. This can be a great activity to develop your abilities to make decisions and work with each other.
Aquarium
This is a fantastic date idea if you have an aquarium in your city or town. Chances are during the morning hours it will be pretty quiet and it will offer some wonderful sights of fish, penguins, and even dolphins speeding through the waters. You could sit all day and chat with each other, learning cool things about the fish, and also learning about yourselves.
Restaurant
It doesn’t have to be anything expensive, although it can if you desire. Sometimes your loved one will really be grateful for you preparing a meal for them. No matter where you pick to have your dinner date, nothing quite beats eating by candles and a rose on the table. And gents, let me give you some sound advice. A girl will love it when you prepare a fancy meal for them. Some form of pasta is best for me. Just remember spaghetti isn’t just for a couple of cartoon dogs to enjoy.
