Ghana Accra is an important destination in West Africa for which thousands of tourists fly to visit the country and spend their holidays. Airports in Ghana are basically classified in three categories which are civil airports open for public use, military airports and private airports not open to the public. Those airports which are of joint use, both civil and military, are considered as civil airports.
Civil airports are those which are open for public use (including joint use).
Military airport, not open for public use.
Private airports are those which are not open for public use.

After gaining independence from the British there were not much airports at that time, then Gold Coast took on its current name, Ghana. Quite similarly there are different airports which recent govt. has restructured. The Gold Coast played host to the Portuguese, Dutch, German and British who initially came here to trade in gold. They mounted several Forts and Castle for the tourists and are considered one of the best castles in the world. People from different parts of the world book their cheap flights to Accra to have a look of these famous castles.
